Domino Tournament

Sunday March 3, 2013

Salsarengue Restaurant

392 High St.

Registration begins at 12:00, Tournament starts at 1:30 p.m.

Dominoes are more then simple nickel-dime-pass-the-time games. To skilled domino players, they are building blocks that can be assembled in innumerable ways to create a large variety of games, ranging from the simple to the complex, from games in which the gameplay is almost mechanical, to games that require great skill and strategy.

Dominoes evolved from dice. In fact, the numbers in a standard double-six domino set represent all the rolls of two six-sided dice. A set of Chinese Dominoes contains all the possible combinations (including duplicates). European dominoes use only the unique rolls (and add in the blanks).

During the Winter Carnival, visitors can watch, learn, and play dominoes as the tournament action heats up at Salsarengue Restaurant in downtown Holyoke. The tournament begins at 1:30 p.m., and advance registration is required for teams or individual players interested in participating. Contact Jose Bou at (413) 320-3148 for more information.

A number of area teams have been invited to play in the tournament on Sunday March 3. A final schedule will be posted here in the coming weeks, so check back for more information on this exciting tournament.

Free food is provided to all registered gamers.
